Tues., July 18, 2006

Today we met the Paramount Chief of Saboba. He is in control of a large area. Again we were treated to a big ceremony with many introductions and salutations. After much talk and encouraging words, in both directions, we were given the chiefs blessing to preach on his lands. This may not seem a good use of our time to outsiders, but by visiting the chief and getting his blessing, the people are much more receptive to the Gospel as they don’t have to worry about tribal retribution or persecution.

After leaving the chief, we went to the construction site to see the new church building project. The land is right in the middle of town and was given to them by the chief. The chief wants the church here as they are very active in clean-up projects, water drilling, and medical clinics. He also gave them 53 acres outside of town to start a school or clinic!

Baa-Baa-Q sandwiches for all. The goat has met his maker and a nice sauce to boot. After eating, we rode the bus into the bush once again. Setting up the movie and sound system in the dark was a snap (we are pros by now). After viewing the movie, I was called on to preach the invitation. I did so with a follow-up from Bill and then 20 souls were added to the church! The congregation in this village, Biwaado, is blessed to have these new members.

A treacherous bus ride back to our nest, and we are off to sleep.
