We are in deep now! I am writing by solar powered light. That’s something at least. Our baths will be from a bucket using a cup to pour. We also use the bucket to flush the toilet! We pray for strength!
This morning we were introduced to the Dr. of the clinic and 3 area preachers who rode on motor cycles. This mode of travel is the only way to get to the areas where they preach. The introductions were a very serious thing. Very proper and important. That is the “way”, here.
The Bunkpurugu Road! 4 hours on a bumpy dirt, sometimes almost impassable road. But by 2 PM we were in the village. Old Ghana! The one you see on National Geographic. The odd thing is that you may see a mule along side a motor cycle, or 2 people talking – one with African dress and the other with T –Shirt and Nikes. We are staying in a complex with rooms around a courtyard. I think we will be ok.
Tonight we rest and see a movie. “Condor Man”, an old Disney movie. One of those “campy” ones. Over 20 years ago, when Ted lived in Ghana, 4 of the Ghanaian brothers (the fearless four) would watch this movie at Ted’s home, frequently. They love the movie and memories of those days! We surprised them using the projector and DVD player with generator that we use in street preaching. The 4 brothers had not seen this movie since Ted moved back to the states. When it started they roared as if Ghana had just won the world cup. It was like watching 4 kids watch their favorite movie. Cool surprise! I had a blast watching them watch the movie.
