Wow! What a good nights rest. Our safari walk started at 7 AM (7:45 Ghanaian time). We were met by our “armed” guide David, and then taken into the bush. The reserve here is not fenced or tame. The animals are free to roam about its 4843 square acres.
We saw many dear and antelope and the occasional warthog. We were hoping to see an elephant and 45 minutes into the walk, we were not disappointed! A 65 year old large African elephant was grazing on some trees while we approached. We were able to get within 20 feet of this gi-normous creature. Amazing! He was obviously on vacation as he had his “trunk” with him. (The Ghanaians didn’t get that joke?)
A French toast breakfast followed our safari and we enjoyed a bit more rest.
The museum is filled with animal hides and bones. There is even a baby elephant preserved in a cooler to see (if you want to – yuck).
An elephant came up to the hotel for a visit. His name is “people’s friend” because he likes people. Good for pictures.
The baboon returned for his “out of the trash” dinner followed by Mole’s lawn mowers with legs – the warthogs. I think I saw Pumba! Hope Simba stays at Pride Rock!
