July 6, 2006 Thursday

The journey begins. I arrived at Ted's house around 10 am. Ted and I were to meet the group at Tampa Int. Airport at Noon.

As we checked the large baggage in, we already knew we were over by two pieces. They were weighed one by one at 69.8 pounds. - 70 pounds being the limit. The woman checking our bags noticed our campaigns T-Shirts and "comped" us the 2 extra bags saving us $300 dollars!

We now only had our carry on bags. David and I had computers and a bag while Rick had a computer and a back pack with what appeared to be a prosthetic leg sticking out of it: complete with sock. Turns out it was his guitar - but we had "fun with strangers" for the next 2 days!

We conducted our meeting over lunch at the "wharf" restaurant. This is where Ted gave us our final instructions and let us in on the "cons", shall we say. I think he was just having fun with us. Maybe?

After our "last meal" as Ted put it, we walked over to get our "just desserts" - ice cream! Ted said: "Not all days are equal" - eat up.

Amber Kenyon, Renee, Trish, Ted, Penny, and Leslie were there to see us off.

After our goodbyes (sad), the three amigos were on our way. A short flight to Miami and we were with our fourth - Bill. We all got acquainted and soon agreed: "This was going to be a great trip".

As we loaded, we discussed what our seat partners might be like on the plane. We all imagined the worst. As it turned out, we all had plenty of room: aisle seats with empties on the inside.

Rick had the "unfortunate" position of having to sit with the ... Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders! Yes, he was forced to spend 8 hours sitting and talking to a professional cheerleading squad on their way to a professional cheerleading performance. Tough luck, buddy.

Dinner has arrived and the in flight movie is about to begin. David is behind me and Rick is busy with his new friends. I might just get a nap.
